SHEARWATER STUDIO & GALLERY

“Shaped by Nature”

Shaped by Nature is an exhibit highlighting the beauty and character of natural materials. Through wood, texture, and organic form, the exhibition explores the dialogue between the natural world and the artist’s hand.

Josh Blewett transforms weathered driftwood into organic sculptural forms that are inspired by nature and the human figure. Working with wood collected along the coast, he preserves the natural textures, curves, and imperfections of each piece while carefully refining the form. His sculptures highlight the quiet beauty of the material, balancing raw natural elements with thoughtful craftsmanship.

Gavin Tougher creates functional work that balances thoughtful craftsmanship with the organic beauty of wood. Sometimes incorporating handmade glass elements, his pieces are designed to hold small collected treasures and meaningful objects.

Weekend Schedule of Events:

Friday, May 1: Show Opens

Saturday, May 2: Artist Reception 3-6pm

His new collection for Spring Unveiling draws from recent travels to Thailand where Mathie experienced a different approach to seeing and art making. Using sea-life forms and bold vibrant compositions, Mathie’s new paintings celebrate the interconnectedness of living creatures.

Gorsuch creates intricate linocuts and expressive monotypes that pay reverence to the forests, ocean and mountains in the region. This new body of work reflects his deep connection to the Pacific Northwest. As an avid explorer, memories and experience shape the way Gorsuch renders moments in the natural world. HOUSE OF ORANGE

Debuts a new show for the festival “Spring a Shore Thing” featuring artists Carol Ross and Sarah Fine.

This spring, House of Orange Gallery presents Carol Ross’s Tidepool Collection, a new series inspired by quiet moments of discovery along the Washington coast. Each painting captures the rhythm of the tide, layered coastal textures, and the pleasure of seeing familiar shores with fresh eyes.

Thoughtful and playful, this collection offers collectors an intimate connection to the coastline—works that feel both refined and quietly joyful, bringing the calm and curiosity of the shore into the home.
Carol Ross will be in attendance at the Friday Artists Reception and for a Saturday morning painting demonstration in the gallery, offering a chance to meet the artist and gain insight into her creative process.

Sarah Fine is an illustrator and graphic designer based in Portland, Oregon, who has recently discovered a new passion for 3D sculpture, working primarily in ceramics. Her whimsical creations can be found in galleries throughout Portland and Cannon Beach, OR.

Deeply influenced by her daily life, Sarah’s work is often met with the reaction, “Now that’s so Oregonian.”

This spring, Sarah continues her newest series, Cannon Beach Bunnies, releasing a fresh collection of illustrated ceramic sculptures during the Spring Unveiling Arts Festival. Sarah will be in attendance on Friday during the House of Orange artist reception—a wonderful opportunity to meet this talented visual storyteller in person.

FIREFLY GALLERY

Featuring Sally Murphy & Sam Ashley for the festival weekend.

Sally Murphy spends her time working, living and painting in Jerome, AZ. Although, she is largely a self-taught artist she apprenticed with a Taos, NM artist-where she learned techniques which she is utilizing in many of her paintings. In particular bird nests and tumbleweeds. This subtractive method of painting is achieved by rubbing the desired paint colors to the canvas or wood panel where needed and then pulled off with a rag and her thumbnail. Occasionally working with a palette knife adding to the “texture”. Virtually little to no brushwork being involved. It can be seen like drawing in reverse.
