SHEARWATER STUDIO & GALLERY

“Shaped by Nature”

Shaped by Nature is an exhibit highlighting the beauty and character of natural materials. Through wood, texture, and organic form, the exhibition explores the dialogue between the natural world and the artist’s hand.

Josh Blewett transforms weathered driftwood into organic sculptural forms that are inspired by nature and the human figure. Working with wood collected along the coast, he preserves the natural textures, curves, and imperfections of each piece while carefully refining the form. His sculptures highlight the quiet beauty of the material, balancing raw natural elements with thoughtful craftsmanship.

Gavin Tougher creates functional work that balances thoughtful craftsmanship with the organic beauty of wood. Sometimes incorporating handmade glass elements, his pieces are designed to hold small collected treasures and meaningful objects.

Weekend Schedule of Events:

Friday, May 1: Show Opens

Saturday, May 2: Artist Reception 3-6pm

Sunday, May 3: Serving small treats and beverages. 12-3

HOUSE OF ORANGE

Spring Comes Alive at House of Orange Art Gallery

House of Orange opens its newest collective show, “Spring a Shore Thing!”, a vibrant celebration of the Oregon coast, where imagination creates a playful, modern expression of coastal life. This eclectic collection brings together a diverse range of mediums each piece capturing the hopeful spirit of spring emerging along the coast.

Soft, sculptural forms emerge in a series of modern felted sea creations—organic shapes inspired by ocean life. These tactile works by Irina Belovia invite curiosity, echoing the quiet magic of beachcombing along coastal shorelines. Gregg Golsby’s soft encaustic seascapes create rich, layered,& meditative—capturing the essence of the ocean.

Carol Ross’s expressive tide pool paintings explore hidden worlds beneath, rich with color, texture, & life. Alongside them, drawing from unique perspectives & fresh palettes, Susan Walker paints iconic coastal vistas with a contemporary twist.

Greg Scott’s whimsical depictions of Cannon Beach through the life of local creatures bring a sense of play, personality, & storytelling to the collection. Kristie Mooney’s watercolor batik seascapes blend fluid color with intricate illustrations, layering shorelines into dreamlike compositions.

The collection expands into three dimensions with ceramic sea swirls by Annabelle Stien. The latest in the series of Sara Fine’sCannon Beach Bunny sculptures. New glass flowers and mosaics by Beth Anderson. Fused glass & pen & ink collage by Eileen Downes. As well as Phil Seder’s newest wood and metal shorescape series featuring an octopus.

Helvi Smith’s vibrant, abstract-to-whimsical paintings hint at recognizable forms—birds, fish, or imaginative creatures- without settling into realism. Instead, they are spontaneously unpredictable, like visual improvisation. Guest artist Ben Butcher’s mermaid figures, rendered in expressive pen and ink, weave a thread of myth & mystery, culminating in an immersive live mermaid figure drawing experience led by Ben Butcher.

A new Miska Mermaid will be sure to make a splash. Rounding out the collection is a curated selection of new jewelry—handcrafted pieces that echo coastal colors—as well as a Sunday trunk show of handmade ukuleles, blending visual artistry with musical craftsmanship. Music enthusiasts may enjoy three days of sponsored opportunities to meet with “CJ”, Chava Jebeba-Wolin, a nationally recognized Ukulele musician & teacher.

Whether you’re an art enthusiast, musician, or just mermaid-curious, House of Orange invites you to celebrate, explore, & join in the wonderfully vibrant— slightly magical—artistic community connecting this year during Spring Unveiling Arts Festival.

FIREFLY GALLERY

Featuring Sally Murphy & Sam Ashley for the festival weekend.

Sally Murphy spends her time working, living and painting in Jerome, AZ. Although, she is largely a self-taught artist she apprenticed with a Taos, NM artist-where she learned techniques which she is utilizing in many of her paintings. In particular bird nests and tumbleweeds. This subtractive method of painting is achieved by rubbing the desired paint colors to the canvas or wood panel where needed and then pulled off with a rag and her thumbnail. Occasionally working with a palette knife adding to the “texture”. Virtually little to no brushwork being involved. It can be seen like drawing in reverse.
