ABOUT:

The Stormy Weather Arts Festival on the first weekend in November has been one of Cannon Beach’s most popular events . You can immerse yourself in the creative culture that has long been a part of this community recognized as one of the 100 best art towns in America. The weekend offers musical performances and gallery events with the opportunity to meet renowned artists, see their latest works or watch them demonstrate their techniques.

Enjoy a variety of gallery receptions, artist demonstrations, and paint classes, and catch free live musical performances with regional musicians at outdoor venues throughout the town. Cannon Beach is home to more than a dozen art galleries. Many of their most successful national and regional artists and prominent local artists will be showcased during the festival.

Bronze Coast Gallery

Bronze Coast Gallery is hosting four featured artists, David Crawford, Hans Schiebold, Sara Sink, and J. Christopher White.

The gallery’s festival hours are Friday November 1, 10am – 6pm, Saturday November 2, 10am – 7pm and on Sunday November 3, 10am – 4pm. There will be an artist’s reception on Saturday November 4, 5pm – 7pm.

Cannon Beach Art Association

During the upcoming Stormy Weather Arts festival, the Cannon Beach Arts Association and Gallery will present our annual Miniature Show! Which will feature a variety of local and regional artists. Corresponding with our miniature show we will be featuring artwork by Jan Ferguson-Bresee and Joyce Ward.

The theme for this year is “About Town,” focusing on capturing the essence of Cannon Beach and the surrounding area. Artists created pieces that celebrate the beauty and uniqueness of this coastal town and its natural landscapes.

Join us for our opening reception November 1, 2024 from 4:30 – 6:30pm. At the Cannon Beach Gallery located at 1064 S Hemlock St. Cannon Beach, OR 97110. 

This year’s Miniature show is a fundraiser for Friends of Haystack Rock (FOHR). FOHR is celebrating their 20th Anniversary as a local non-profit whose mission is to conserve Haystack Rock and the Marine Gardens for current and future generations.

Featured artists Bev Jozwiak, Chuck Gumpert, and Aliza bring fine technique and artistic vision to their work in oils, mixed media, watercolor and acrylics.

Friday, November 1

4pm – 6pm  Wine Reception.

Meet the Artists and experience the depth and variety of their festival work. Live guitar music provided by Portland musician and composer, Jason Okamoto – combining elements of bossa nova, flamenco, and French gypsy jazz in his deeply felt performances.

Saturday, November 2

11am – 3pm  Artist Demonstrations.

The featured artists will be in the gallery to talk about their work and conduct demonstrations.

4pm – 7pm  Reception with gallery artists.

Great art and conversation with wine & appetizers. Live guitar and vocals from local favorite Bucky Pottschmidt. A talented song writer, Bucky presents original as well as established favorites.

Sunday, November 3

11am – 2pm  Artist demonstrations continue. 

Enjoy coffee, tea, and light bites. 

Live music from Portland musician and composer, John Silliman Dodge. With influences drawn from classical, folk, rock, jazz and pop, enjoy a performance with a wide range of styles.

Images of the West

World renown and internationally published Photographer Randall J Hodges will be in the Images of the West Gallery For the entire weekend for the 37th Annual Stormy Weather Arts Festival. He will be showing off new work in the back of his camera and telling stories of recent adventures.
 
Join Randall and his wife Danielle for an artist meet and greet reception on Saturday November 2nd from 4-6 pm and enjoy complimentary wine and snacks. Randall will give a free talk at 5 PM explaining his Old School “All-in-Camera Techniques” and explain how he captures his remarkable Images of the West without the need for Photoshop or post processing.

Extensive Collection of Bronze Sculpture by Georgia Gerber. “Penguin” .
Gerber is the leading Public Sculptor working today. For Cannon Beach she created the large Tufted Puffins in midtown.
