We have a very exciting Arts Festival coming up called the 7th Annual Plein Air & More Arts Festival June 26, 27 & 28th.
Throughout Cannon Beach artists paint & sculpt or create works of art. These are some of the leading Northwest Artists. Georgia Gerber known for her sculptures in downtown Portland depicting Oregon Wildlife . Gerber will be creating sculpture in clay in front of the gallery. She won the Public Choice Vote for 2014 for her lifesize “Colt & Turtle”. The event is covered by the prestigious Southwest Art Magazine.
Ivan McLean is a contemporary steel sculptor who has created numerous sculptures throughout the Pearl district. He has just returned from installing 6 spheres on Hollywood Boulevard across from Beverly Hills. He is known for his numerous site specific installations for the Nines Hotel in downtown Portland; large bronze sculpture, kiln formed glass walls and wood installations throughout.
Jeff White is a Master oil painter. He has been an Oregon Art Beat feature Artist. His work can be seen in numerous Public Collections; Hawaii Temple Visitor Center, San Francisco Bay Wildlife Refuge & Columbia River Gorge Visitor Center. Private & corporate collections include, Schnitzer Steel, Clint Eastwood the performer Joanna Newsom.
Hazel Schlesinger grew up in Cannon Beach and is a devoted Plein AIr Oil Painter, belonging the the OPA (Oil Painters of America) and the the Plein Air Painters of Hawaii.Her work has been featured in Southwest Art Magazine and has been featured in the TV Series filmed in Portland with Timothy Hutton. Numerous American Express commercials as of late . She is also known and collected for her delightful abstracts .
Douglas Granum is a renowned bronze sculptor known for “Raven Discovering Mankind in a Clam Shell” we have a maquette or model of this bronze sculpture and there is a 28 ft version on Camano Island. His latest project is a lifesize fisherman in bronze, based on a Asahel Curtis Photograph from 1909. “The Big Catch”. The image is of a cannery worker with a King Salmon.
For several years the sculptor carved cedar canoes in the NW style. It is one of these canoes he has selected to be scanned by the very latest 3D technology that he will have cast in bronze. He is bringing a very special guest who is an international leader in this technology, Rob Arps. Arps has worked on big projects with Disney worldwide.
Granum created the Basalt sculpture in front of the gallery with wings. Two months of work went into the project.
