Northwest by Northwest Gallery 2016 Stormy Weather Festival

Renowned bronze sculptor and public artist Georgia Gerber is the featured artist for our 29th Annual Stormy Weather Arts Festival. Her evocative and distinctive sculpture define many of our favorite gathering places in the Pacific Northwest. Her iconic landmark “Rachel”, the pig at the Pike Place Market in Seattle & downtown Portland’s Pioneer Courthouse Square depicting Oregon Wildlife with twenty six bronze sculptures speak of the beauty and grace she finds in the natural world. Her work is respectful and reverential.

Many of her public sculptures can be seen in zoos, libraries around the region and throughout the country. Gerber will discuss the foundry process and her passion for public sculpture on Friday evening from 5 to 6. She will share a new collection of works created for our 29th year.

On Saturday November 5 from 3 to 4 she will give an informal talk on public sculpture and her new collection .

Gerber has the first woman owned and operated foundry in America.

Contemporary sculptor Ivan McLean’s Red Steel Sphere & Steel “Re Invention ” sculptures can be seen in our Landmark Sculpture garden across from the City Park & Info Center/Chamber .

His work can be seen throughout the Pearl District and Nine’s Hotel in Portland. He has just completed eight public sculptures for the City of Livermore California. He has a collection of Spheres across from the famous Hollywood Letters in California & the San Luis Obispo Performing Arts Center. His work can be seen on the Nike Campus . McLean is one of the most sought after sculptors working today for both public and private projects . Informal talk 2 to 3 on Saturday.

Throughout Cannon Beach he has created the tops of the amusing garbage cans & the sayings belong to the artist and some belong to his father in law who wrote for Laugh In.

Christopher Burkett, Oregon Fine Art photographer says that his subject matter is light. His Luminous photographs have brought him world wide acclaim. Authentic color so breath taking that the words “You have to suspend your disbelief when looking at a Christopher Burkett photograph are often posted at NW By NW GALLERY.

Burkett is fond of saying “A pixel will never be a photon” on his using traditional darkroom techniques. His photographs are printed by hand one at a time.

His darkroom technique was garnered from Ansel Adams who said “The negative is the score, the print is the performance” . Most recent museum acquisitions are Fine Arts Museum of Houston & Nelson-Atkins Museum of Fine Art in Kansas City. Meet this American Master on Saturday November 5 from 1 -2. He is unveiling a new photograph for us in celebration of our 29th year. 1859 Magazine has done an in depth article for the November issue.

Oil Painter Jeff White will give a talk on color theory. For months he has worked on a Pointillist Oil painting for our 29th Stormy Weather. Saturday 4 to 5. OPB TV Oregon Art beat Featured Artist known for his Skyscapes & Landscapes.

Local oil painter Hazel Schlesinger grew up in Cannon Beach and understands the light & color of “One of the 100 Most Beautiful Places on Earth”. Her Contemporary & Plein Air Paintings have been published in Southwest Art Magazine and can bee seen in TV commercials & TV Series around the world. Saturday, 11 to 12.
