Hemlock & 2nd 503-436-2917 Click To View Sponsors Website A log restaurant was first erected in 1921 on the corner of 2nd and Hemlock by Paul Bartel. It served the loggers in the area, some of whom slept in small cabins behind the restaurant. Tales of encounters with bears have been recalled by former employees. In 1976 Tom and Suzy Morris purchased the cabin and added the first restrooms. The increase in business that the restaurant enjoyed took its toll on the original log building and a new, larger log building was erected in 1985.  Read More →

The morning sun was already illuminating the clouds offshore as I walked by Silver Point recently. The first kiss of sunlight was hitting the sea stacks and breakers as well. Overnight the receding tide had erased the evidence of the prior day’s activities. One of the reasons I love this part of the coast is you will likely have the beach to yourself if you are out walking as the sun rises, which is simply good for my soul. “In Bloom – Siletz Bay” This group of rocks, known as “The Sisters” is located in Siletz Bay on the Central Oregon Coast. They are a frequent subject of mine as a painter and I never drive Highway 101 without stopping to see what they have to offer on any given day. I painted this watercolor during the summer bloom cycle of Montbretia which are one of my favorite flowers to paint. Discovering vibrant wild blossoms and fog veiled sea stacks makes my job a little easier. Original Framed Watercolor 35 ½” x 57 ½” $5,000 – Image 25 ½” x 47 All Rights ReservedRead More →
