7th Annual Plein Air & More Weekend June 24, 25, and 26th, 2015 Plein air is a term derived from the French expression “en plein air”, meaning “in the open air” and specifically refers to the act of painting outdoors. Cannon Beach’s popular “Plein Air & More” is a three day event which includes a Friday night “meet & greet” with the participating artists and gallery owners, along with a collaborative show of art work. On Saturday and Sunday, more than fifty artists, represented by Cannon Beach’s art galleries will be creating works of art on location throughout town and on the beach. Many will work in the traditional method of plein-aire painting, while others will sculpt, create and photograph in their own unique styles. Individual galleries display the finished works along with hosting receptions for the artists Saturday and Sunday.

Plein air painter by Sharon Abbott-Furtze will be painting during this years event. Originals as well as cards and small prints will be on display.
Featured Artists for Northwest By Northwest Gallery – 2015
Sculpting by Georgia Gerber will be featured at Northwest by Northwest Gallery.
Georgia Gerber won the Public Choice Vote for her “Colt & Turtle ” at last year’s Plein Air event, 2014.
Oil Paintings of Hazel Schlesinger , a native of the Cannon Beach area, is a member of the prestigious American Impressionist Society and Oil Painters of America. Her work has appeared in Southwest Art Magazine, and the TV Series “Leverage” filmed in Portland and numerous commercials distributed worldwide. She will be a featured artist at the Plein Air & More Art Festival held the last week in June each year .June, 26, 27 & 28.
Primary Elements Gallery Artist to be Featured for Plein Air & More
2014 – Bill Thompson received the “And More Award” from Southwest Art Magazine this year during The Plein Air & More. The images shown here of John Lennon were composed by Bill Thompson using floor tile as a mosaic. The third image was actually made by the artist on the back deck of The Cannon Beach Chamber of Commerce during the event with an audience of onlookers. It hangs in Primary Elements Gallery with portraits of other famous people. Seasons Café, & Sweet Basils also have images of celebrities, musicians, & rock stars that are easy to recognize. The November issue of Southwest Art contained an ad which was the prize given by the magazine to the award winning artists.
