An exclusive, limited attendance culinary event will feature a performance by San Francisco based theater group, We Players, with food provided by White Cap Catering and Maggies on the Prom executive chef Jonathan Jones. Performers and musicians  from the group will present a joyful post dinner performance of music, sea poems and shanty sing-a-long titled: From The Sea: Songs and Stories with We. Cost is $150, a fundraiser for the festival’s five featured non-profit organizations and tickets may be purchased online at cbgallerygroup.com (not included with festival pass).

Arts & Conservation Presentations

(1pm) For the Love of Turtles with glass artist Kathleen Sheard will explore how we all can make a difference for turtles and the planet by starting to change patterns in our daily lives; (2pm) Art Detox Challenge with artist Erik Abel discusses the toxic world of art supplies and solutions that are more human, earth and animal friendly; (3pm); Conservation: Big, Small and How You Can Participate with Hannah Buschert and Erik Dale Ostrander, international birders and podcast stars of Hannah and Erik Go Birding. (4pm); Art for the Sky Project Introduction with Daniel Dancer. This presentation with instructions for all participants will also be on Facebook live and can be viewed on the Cannon Beach Gallery Group Facebook page.

Land Art Installations

Salvaged marine debris is used to create beautiful ecological beach weavings in this Artists In Action exhibit featuring the work of Shelby Silver and Emily Miller.

Live Performance Installations and Roving Performers from We Players 
11-2pm | Installations at Coaster Theatre Courtyard and Sandpiper Square; Roving performers will appear between Sea Breeze Court in midtown and Whale Park in downtown

Public spaces in Cannon Beach will become participatory theater as award-winning San Francisco based theater group, We Players, acclaimed nationally for their site-integrated performances, will perform from their recent sold-out production of PSYCHOPOMP, portraying mythological characters who ferry souls between worlds.

Microplastic Clean-up Demonstration 
2:30pm | On the beach at Whale Park

Learn about the issue of microplastics or join the clean-up efforts at this microplastic clean-up demonstration by Sea Turtles Forever founder Marc Ward using his patented microstatic screening process that is now being used world-wide.

Scavenger Hunt

Visit some of Cannon Beach’s public art and other discoveries on the town’s walking trails and beach, a fun activity for kids of all ages to participate in with their families.

Art For the Sky to Create World’s Largest Sea Star 
4pm on beach off of 2nd Street. 

The public is invited to be part of a live art project that will create the world’s largest sea star on the beach, entirely made up of people. The live art project will be coordinated by Art for the Sky, known for creating giant living paintings made of groups of people that are photographed from the sky. Over a span of twenty years, Art for the Sky founder Daniel Dancer has completed over 300 projects, in 44 states and eight countries with the help of more than 150,000 participants. Open to the public with free pre-registration. Participants are asked to wear red or a shade of red and arrive on the beach at the end of 2nd Street at 3:45pm. Living Sculptures & Site Responsive Sonic Improvisations By We Players
6pm | On the beach at Whale Park

Interact with living sculptures and keep your eyes and ears tuned for moments of beauty on the beach by performers from San Francisco’s We Players. You will also be able to view land art installations on the beach and watch as the raku firing on the beach reaches its final fiery stage.

Raku Pottery Firing on the Beach & Fire Dancing Performance 
7pm | On the beach at Whale Park

Ending with a burst of flame and smoke that creates the iridescent sheen of raku pottery, ceramic artists Dave and Boni Deal will fire a raku piece on the beach for the public to view. The Deals began firing raku on the beach 50 years ago and this will be their final public demonstration of this exciting process. Come share in a toast to the artists honoring their long artistic careers. After the fiery conclusion of the raku firing, stay for a fire dancing performance on the beach by a We Players performer.

Art For The Sky Sea Star Project Reveal  
10am | Community Hall

Art For The Sky’s Daniel Dancerwill reveal the final video of the sea star live art project

Dualing Easels: A Unique Painting Experience: 
11am | Community Hall

Participants watch as painters Michael Orwick & Anton Pavlenko, with their own distinct styles, tools and color palettes, simultaneously begin paintings then switch canvases several times before finishing the canvases. The artists impart humor and painting lore as they continue each image in their style while maintaining the integrity of the intent and composition of the painting.

The resulting paintings from this engaging event are always stunning and the finished pieces will be available for purchase with proceeds from sales donated to the festival’s five environmental non-profit beneficiaries.

Festival passes are $50 per person and include all festival events (excluding Thursday’s dinner) and entry in a prize drawing worth $500 in gift certificates for use at participating Cannon Beach galleries. A total of $25 from every festival pass sold will be donated directly to the participating non-profit organizations. Admission to festival events is free for children 12 and younger, excluding the Thursday dinner. Adults and children can participate free in the Art For The Sky live art sea star by registering online.
