Each spring, Cannon Beach art galleries collect the latest works from their featured artists to showcase at the Spring Unveiling Arts Festival. That tradition continues this spring over the weekend of May 2-4. The galleries will welcome some of their most popular artists as guests in the galleries during the weekend or will curate special exhibitions of their latest works.

Bronze Coast Gallery

Featured Artists: The gallery will host and feature the works of artists Cary Weigand, Margret Short and Seth Vandable.

Cary Weigand is a sculptor working in clay whose work captures the engagement between human and animal characters with a muted color pallet of glazes. During Spring Unveiling, she will unveil new work and introduce the publication of her first book.

Margret Short specializes in still life and floral subjects in oils using an old-masters style and is known for her use of pure pigments, many of them historical and hand ground in resin and oil mediums which allow the paint to take on a certain glowing quality.

Seth Vandable is a sculptor who captures the human form with elegant detail. His knowledge of human anatomy allows him to work without the need for models. His sculptures can be found in private and corporate collections worldwide.

Cannon Beach Gallery

Featured Artists: The gallery will present an exhibition titled “Spring Tides” featuring work by Lisa Sofia Robinson, David Cohen, Rita Brown, Sander Romanski, Gordon French, Brian Evans, Shoalwater Pottery.

The group exhibition includes works that capture the power and serenity of coastal landscapes, shifting currents and tidal energy.

DragonFire Gallery

Featured Artists: Among its featured artists, the gallery will present works by Joanne Shellan, Andy Nichols and Leon Lowman.

Joanne Shellan is a painter who uses a saturated palette of rich color to interpret landscapes and cityscapes in impressionist fashion.

Andy Nichols is a glass blower who has become known for his colorful glass sculptures of salmon and trout.

Leon Lowman grew up in Puerto Rico and his colorful abstract acrylics show the influenced of the colors of the Caribbean.

SATURDAY, MAY 3: 11am – Unveiling of new work takes place; 11:30am-3pm – Featured artists will be demonstrating their artistic process and answering questions; 4-7pm- Artist reception with appetizers from Jonathan Hoffman, wine and live music from Bucky Pottschmidt.

SUNDAY, MAY 4: 11am-1pm – Artist demonstrations, lite bites and coffee reception. Live music from John Silliman Dodge.

House of Orange

Featured Artists: The gallery will feature work by artists Greg Scott, Dianne Aoki and Carol Ross.

Greg Scott’s representational paintings of animals and their surroundings take a surreal twist with bold color combinations. He will debut new works from his collection Kindred Animals and his original painting for the poster for the 2025 Cannon Beach Sandcastle Contest.

Dianne Aoki paints with a colorful and graphic style and she will unveil a new series of oil paintings “Birds, Sing of Spring”.

Painter Carol Ross will be unveiling new impressionist works adding to her Coastal Collection.

FRIDAY, MAY 2: 3:30-6pm – Artists’ reception with wine by Saffron Fields Vineyard and dessert. Unveiling of new work by featured artists.

SATURDAY, MAY 3: 10am-1pm – Artist demonstrations by Carol Ross, Susan Walker, Susan Curington, Dianne Aoki and Greg Scott with complimentary coffee and scones from Elk Creek Coffee and live music by Chava Wolin from 1-2pm. Chava competes in national competitions for ukulele and plays a mix of original songs and classic mashups; 3-6pm – Mingle with artists Beth Andersen, Kerstin McKee, Phil Seder, Christina Soderquist, Ann Elizabeth Scott and more!

SUNDAY, MAY 4: 10am-1pm – Bird Painting Workshop led by Dianne Aoki (sign up in advance on website or in gallery)

Images of the West

Featured Artist: Renowned photographer Randall J. Hodges will be in the gallery all weekend, sharing stories of recent adventures, showing his latest work and offering free photo advice. Hodges will also offer tips on decorating with photos and the different media choices available today including Gallery wrapped canvas, Chromaluxe Metal Prints on Aluminum, Professional Luster Paper prints matted and framed and Lumachrome HD Acrylic Prints. The gallery will be offering 2026 Images of the Northwest Calendars along with note cards, Puzzles and Hodge’s book, Images of the West.

Jeffrey Hull Gallery

Featured Artist: Cannon Beach resident artist Jeffrey Hull will be in the gallery throughout the weekend to visit with gallery guests as he unveils his latest originals and new giclee prints.

FRIDAY, MAY 2: 5pm – Unveiling of Jeff’s new originals. Artist reception to follow, with light bites from Sage Bleu Catering & music by guitarist Noah Dooley.

SATURDAY, MAY 3: 11am – Unveiling of Jeff’s new print.
1pm – Live music with The Djangophiles.
5pm – Open House reception featuring light bites from Sage Bleu Catering.

SUNDAY, MAY 4: 10am – Coffee with Jeff and the gallery crew.

Northwest By Northwest Gallery

Featured Artists: Among the gallery’s featured artists will be Laura O’Brien, Hazel Schlesinger and Georgia Gerber.

Laura O’Brien paints contemporary expressionist scenes of landscapes and townscapes that border on abstracts.

Painter Hazel Schlesinger captures Northwest inspired landscape, often en plein air with impressionist style.

Georgia Gerber is a sculptor well known for her public art bronzes throughout the Northwest.

Shearwater Studio & Gallery

Featured Artists: The gallery will feature artists including Cristina Aucone, Jenna Philpott and Drea Frost who will all be in the gallery during the festival.

Cristina Aucone is a jewelry artist who uses precious metals, stones and found natural elements in her designs inspired by nature.

Jenna Philpott uses rocks collected in Cannon Beach to create uniquely beautiful cyanotypes that are embellished with gold ink.

Drea Frost will be featuring new paintings inspired by the stormy ocean as well as a collection of mounted collagraph prints inspired by nature.

White Bird Gallery

Featured Artists: The gallery will feature artists Alexandra Boyden, Christopher Mathie, Tom Haddy and Joshua Rodine.

Alexandra Boyden will be in the gallery to reveal her new impressionist pastels based on her travels across the country seeking iconic barns.

Christopher Mathie, known at White Bird for his moody impressionist Pacific Northwest seascapes, will unveil new large-scale paintings including his first work featuring Haystack Rock.

California-based artist Tom Haddy is new to the gallery with his stone turned vessels.

The gallery will also feature a new collection of blown glass vessels and sculptures by Joshua Rodine.
