Motivation to move to Cannon Beach began in early the 1990’s when the owners, Bob Neroni and Lenore Emery first traveled through the beach community on the way to see Lenore’s family in Seattle. After visiting the quaint artsy town, the two daydreamed about the many ways they might live where they loved to visit. And visit they did, every year there after until finally, after building their own beach bungalow in Cannon Beach, they moved in full time spring of 2004.

The idea of opening EVOO was very appealing. Both Bob and Lenore had spent many years teaching or training in the food industry. Both admit that teaching the craft of cooking is one of the most satisfying experiences of their career. When the former little beach cottage became available on the main commercial street in Cannon Beach, their motion to the ocean gained momentum.

Bottom Heavy Bear now at Bronze Coast Gallery

News0 comments

Bronze Coast Gallery announces the completion of a new bear by wildlife sculptor Joshua Tobey titled ‘Bottom Heavy’. This particular bear was done as a request by a client of the gallery. “They wanted a seated bear” said Tobey. The client sent photos of the garden location where the bear would be placed and Tobey came up with a design for a lying down bear which he presented during Stormy Weather Arts Festival last November. “They loved it!” he said, adding “it feels pretty good to be able to sell something from a sketch.” Bronze Coast Gallery ended up selling two ‘Bottom Heavy’ sculptures that weekend. Gallery manager Melisa Colvin explained that in order to make the project budget-friendly for everyone, the sculpture is now a limited edition of 15.

Through his work, Colorado-based Tobey is able to express his passion for wildlife and the outdoors in a creative and uniquely way. He believes that art is a personal experience. People don’t just look at and appreciate Tobey’s sculptures; they interact and connect with them. Tobey considers himself a storyteller and is able to communicate with viewers through anthropomorphic interpretations of elk, bears, rabbits and other creatures. Original patinas contribute to the mood and visual texture of each piece to further connect with the viewer. ‘Bottom Heavy’ can be seen at Bronze Coast Gallery in the Landing, downtown Cannon Beach.

August Print Invitational at the Cannon Beach Gallery August 2 – September 3, 2013

The Cannon Beach Gallery is pleased to host six regional artists in the August Print Invitational. The show opens Friday, August 2 and continues through September 3, 2013. The Artist’s Reception will occur on Saturday, August 3 from 5pm-7pm.

Featured artists include Liza Jones, Paul Miller, and Susan C. Walsh of Manzanita, John Clark and Jamie Boyd of Astoria and Nicole Rawlins of Portland, Oregon.

Fine art prints require a great deal of skill and artistry to execute. These original works of art are printed from a matrix such as a metal plate or woodblock that has been carved, etched or painted by the artist. The artists in the August Print Invitational are all masters of their craft, working in a variety print media in order to express their individual visions.

The Cannon Beach Gallery is a program of the Cannon Beach Arts Association and showcases a new exhibit every month featuring local and regional artists. The Print Invitational is sponsored by Martin Hospitality. The Gallery is open seven days a week through September, so stop by for an opportunity to view this collection of fine artistry.
