December 9 – January 2, 2011/2012
Artist Reception: Saturday, December 3, 6-8 P.M.
The Cannon Beach Gallery will host its annual Volunteer Show from December 9-January 2, 2012 with an opening reception on Saturday, December 10 from 6-8pm.
The Cannon Beach Gallery is a program of the non-profit Cannon Beach Arts Association, and as such it relies on a group of dedicated volunteers to assist with operations throughout the year. Many of these volunteers are also artists, jewelers and photographers.
The Volunteer Show is a way of showcasing the talents of our Docent Staff, Gallery Committee Members, as well as members of the Board of Directors in a group show that will feature original art work in a variety of media.
Included in this years exhibit will be jeweler Elizabeth Pattison, a long time Cannon Beach artist in residence who works at the Gallery year round as a Docent. In addition, Bonny Gorsuch, whose lively assemblages and fabric collages always tell a story (sometimes one which is literally spelled out in Scrabble tiles) will have work on display. Gorsuch is also a long time Docent at the Gallery (ten years and running) and received the CBAA’s Individual Artist Grant in 2009 for a project entitled “Random Scraps of Fabric.”
In addition, the impressive etchings of Liza Jones and Paul Miller will be on display. Both Manzanita artists help with hanging exhibits throughout the year and Jones is instrumental to the success of the Gallery Committee.
Not to be left behind, several members of the CBAA’s Board of Director’s will also be displaying work including photographer Don Frank and the watercolor painter, Ireta Sitts-Graube.
There promises to be a lot of variety in the exhibit, including the popular felted creations of Jessica Sund, whose fingerless gloves have been flying out the Gallery doors this fall. In addition, the exquisite jewelry designs of Susie Frances Aoki will be on display, along with more traditional fine art pieces by such talented painters as Janet Bland and Barbara Temple Ayres.

Haystack Gallery, celebrating its 34th anniversary in Cannon Beach, is featuring our jewelry “Trunk Show” for the month of December. Featured Artists will be silver jewelers living in Israel.
Roman Glass – This jewelry is the work of many talented designers at Kibbutz Revadim and is inspired by the beautiful surroundings and culture of Israel.
Their jewelry is inlaid with a fragment of Roman glass, discovered in an archaeological excavation in the Holy Land. The patina was created by chemical interaction with mineral-rich soil over the course of 2000 years.
Beit-Nir – This special collection of silver jewelry is the work of two talented designers inspired by the beautiful surroundings at Kibbutz Beit-Nir and by Israeli culture.
Ziva Goren was born in Israel and studied art, crafts & interior design at the Bezalel School of Arts in Jerusalem. She was one of the founders of a small workshop that grew into the Beit-Nir Jewelry factory. Sarah Salomon was born in Israel and studied art, sculpture, painting and jewelry design in Memad, one of the finest institutes in Israel.
For more than 40 years, Beit-Nir Jewelry has crafted a unique line of hand-made jewelry combining silver with gold and semi-precious stones in their studio in Kibbutz Beit-Nir in the hills of the Negev Desert.
