Activities abound with artists] demonstrations, new work being exhibited and numerous artists making personal appearances.  Below is a short schedule of what’s happening in the galleries.

Beginning Friday at 1pm and all day Saturday at Jewelry by Sharon Amber they will be presenting new jewelry designs, new paintings and graphites by Sharon Amber and Michael Lorenzini.    An artists’ reception will be held Saturday night from 6-8pm.

At Northwest by Northwest Gallery on Friday Lillian Pitt will do a demo at 1 pm, Cathleen Rehfeld will demo at 3 pm and Georgia Gerber will demo at 4 pm.  On Saturday Eric Jacobsen will demo at 1 pm, Christopher Burkett will make a presentation at 2 pm and Ann Fleming will do a presentation at 3 pm.  An artists’ reception with live music begins at 6pm.  This is a fund raiser for the food bank, so a $5 donation will be taken at the door.

Haystack Gallery will feature John Ebner doing a painting performance from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, with an artist’s reception starting at 5pm. New work by Mike Smith and Sean Conrad will also be on display.  Saturday brings Michael David Sorensen into the gallery doing painting demonstrations and also pastel artist Janis Ellison will be demonstrating her techniques.  Artists’ reception begins at 5 pm.  Sunday morning artist Michael Tieman will be demonstrating and giving a talk based the inspiration he received from his recent travels to Italy. Light refreshments will be served.

Friday at the Primary Elements Gallery from 5–7 pm artists Gary Fenske with his featured paintings that glow in the dark and artist Margriet Seinen who creates paintings on silk will be attending the evening reception.  Saturday from 11 am -2 pm Josh Henrie, Rip Caswell and Alison Brown will be in the gallery doing demonstrations. Also demonstrating will be Marianne Post at 1 pm and Jaio Ying from 3-4 pm.  An evening reception will be held from 5–8 pm.

At the Whitebird Gallery Rebecca DeVere is having a weekend long jewelry trunk show. Her fun and whimsical designs often employ large findings in eclectic combinations of semi-precious, costume and vintage beads.  Her playful approach to jewelry designing encourages feeling fabulous, elegant and playful in any situation! Also on Saturday between 2 and 4 pm , Christopher Mathie will be doing a demonstration.  An artists’ reception will be held from 5-7pm.

George Vetter will host a champagne artist’s reception at his gallery, George Vetter FotoArt on Friday evening at 6 pm. On Saturday at 2 pm there will be two drawings for signed prints and a reception from 6–8 pm.  Rounding out the weekend, on Sunday morning from 11am – 1 pm George will have croissants and orange juice and end his Stormy Weather Weekend with a 2 pm drawing for one of his signed prints.

Bronze Coast Gallery will host artists Carol Gold, Joshua Tobey, Jim Eppler, Robert Rogers, Matthew Palmer, and Ben Hammond at an opening reception Friday night from 5–8 pm.  On Saturday from 10-5 you are welcome to visit with artists Joshua Tobey, Matthew Palmer and Ben Hammond.  A reception will be held from 6-8 pm.  Sunday morning coffee with the artists will be held from 11am-1pm.

Saturday from11:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. at the DragonFire Gallery, artists Michael Orwick, Chuck Gumpert, and Theresa Andreas-O’Leary  will all be doing demonstrations. An artists’ reception will be held from 4-7 pm.  On Sunday morning a light brunch reception with live music will be held from 11am-1pm..

At the Jeffrey Hull Gallery, you can meet and visit with artist Jeffrey Hull from 11am-6pm on Saturday.  A reception will be held from 6-8pm.  Jeff, who paints both watercolors and oils will have several new paintings for the weekend and will also be featuring his newest gliceé prints “Tillamook Rock Lighthouse” and “Short Sands Bridge”.

Modern Villa Gallery will have artists Thomas Hughes, Sarah Goodnough, and David Jonathan Marshall in house for you to meet and visit with on Saturday from 11am- 6pm.  Thomas Hughes, a former Arch Cape resident is a new artist featured at Modern Villa.  After making furniture for many, he now creates kinetic sculptures encompassing many of his interests: folk art, engineering, circuses, birds, kinetic movement, roadside attractions, and woodcarving to name a few. He started out with simple mechanisms but each new piece has become more complex.  An artists’ reception will be held from 6:30-8pm on Saturday.  The artists will also be at the gallery on Sunday from 11am-2pm.

Heritage Gallery will have artists James Christensen and William Phillips in the gallery on Saturday from 11am-8pm.  Come meet and visit with these renowned artists.  An artists’ reception will be held from 6-8pm with light refreshments.

The Cannon Beach Arts Association Gallery is having a Stormy Weather Arts Raffle: the Ocean Avenue Print Portfolio which consists of 16 original etchings by well know North Coast Artists.  Tickets are $2 each or three for $5 with the drawing at 8pm Saturday, Nov 5th. In addition, we will be hosting our 25th Annual Miniatures Show which will feature beaded mosaics by artist Zemula Fleming with the reception happening on November 5 from 6-8pm. Artist appearances, trunk shows and demonstrations will take place all day Saturday, from 9 am-5pm

Icefire will kick off their activities with a reception on Friday from 4:30 to 6:30 pm with Pamela Juett who will be demonstrating her bead making techniques followed by a jewelry trunk show.  Saturday from 1 – 3 pm Mark Gordon will demonstrate the making of his glass fish.  From 6 to 8 pm a reception for Jim Kingwell, Suzanne Kindland, Mark Gordon and Pamela Juett will be held downtown next to the Cannon Beach Treasure Company at 255 N Hemlock.  During their 9 – 11 am Sunday breakfast reception, Suzanne Kindland will demonstrate the making of her Brocade vases and then from 11 – 1 Jim Kingwell will demonstrate the making of his Northern Lights series.

Musicians will be performing Saturday at various times in many of the galleries.  So no matter the weather, take advantage of all the artists you can meet and visit the galleries.  Who cares if it rains and the wind blows, it is after all the Stormy Weather Arts Festival.

An Exciting Autumn of New Work at Haystack Gallery

CANNON BEACH , OREGON –This autumn has been an exciting and busy time at Haystack Gallery. October has seen many new pieces of artwork being sent to us from our artists plus we have added a new artist to our family. New Artist Michael Schlicting – Inspired by American landscape painter Winslow Homer, post-impressionist painter Paul Gauguin and still life painter Henri Matisse, Schlicting creates landscapes using a combination of abstract and realistic interpretations. He describes his style as creative realism.

Working in watercolor, acrylics and mixed media, Schlicting chooses a medium of a project based on how the subject speakes to him. “The act of discovering the physical process is an inward journey, a dialog with your conscious and subconscious.” More of Michael’s work.

Pino -
Last year Pino died at the age of 70, so many of his pieces are hard to find. We have been lucky in that we have acquired five works of his, two of which are sold out editions. Here is the link to our new acquisitions. More.

Tim “Frogman” Cotterill – Tim has released many new frogs cast in bronze this year, this is his newest piece that we have in the gallery. See more new frogs.

John Ebner – John has been busy this year and has given us many new original watercolors. He will be at the gallery for the Stormy Weather Arts Festival Nov. 4-6. John will be painting at the gallery on Friday, Nov 4 from 4-7pm. Stop in and say hi. John’s new originals.
